We design landscape architecture projects at all scales and geographies, from the sea to the mountain and from the city to the wilderness.
LANDSCHOP \ ‘lan(d)- shōp \ is from the old Frisian language, the first term for landscape that “once meant shoveled land, land thrown up against the sea” (Stilgoe, 2015, p.2). This term described the production of viable agrarian land at sea level along the current Dutch coastline. Our landscape architecture studio emerged as a prescient response to the visible and invisible effects of climate change on culture and the built environment. We believe that authentic design is achieved through the ecological expression of our shared cultural values.
Our design studio is located on Cape Cod at the interface between land and sea. We appreciate designing in a place that experiences the essential dynamics of landscape processes and systems. Designing in this environment provides our team agency to design landscape architecture projects at all scales and geographies.
We offer full landscape architectural design services, from conceptual design through permitting, construction documentation and construction observation. Our projects include residential landscapes and gardens, public parks, public realm and city projects, academic campuses and cultural institutions.
The effects of climate change are reshaping approaches to the design process. We evaluate each design project through the lens of climate change to inform a collaborative team approach that is appropriate to the project site, regional context and proposed design program. This underlying approach stabilizes our ability to design inspired, beautiful, enduring places that fulfill the vision and aspirations of our clients and their community.
